Tennessee is now reportedly aiming to hire Mike Gundy as its next football coach, according to multiple reports.
Details aren’t entirely clear about how far along in the process Tennessee is, but there have been indications that the Volunteers are willing to pay Gundy more than $8 million a year.

Tennessee is willing to double Mike Gundy’s salary ($4.2M), according to multiple reports.
$8.4M would make Gundy the third-highest paid coach in CFB.

Tennessee reps have had phone conversations with Mike Gundy about the Vols’ head coaching job. Vols also talked to Gundy in 2013. Oklahoma State is home for Gundy. Getting him away from his alma mater would be hard.

How does Tennessee go from almost hiring Greg Schiano to now possibly getting Mike Gundy? Gundy is one of the best coaches in America. He’s without question in the top class of guys you can get in the college game. Oklahoma State has been very competitive under his regime.
This would be a massive get for the Volunteers, but I’d be skeptical of him taking the job. This might just be leveraged into a massive raise for him at OSU.
