Donald Trump is still unsatisfied with the way the NFL is handling ongoing national anthem protests and called the league “weak and out of control” in his latest comments on the issue.
The national anthem protest started at the beginning of the 2016-17 season and even though it lost some steam along the way, some players are still kneeling for the national anthem in week 12 of the following season. The president voiced his frustration with the ongoing protests Tuesday morning, as he often does, on Twitter.
At least 24 players kneeling this weekend at NFL stadiums that are now having a very hard time filling up. The American public is fed up with the disrespect the NFL is paying to our Country, our Flag and our National Anthem. Weak and out of control!

The anthem protests, started by Colin Kaepernick, had essentially died down this year until Trump fired off on the issue during a campaign rally for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange. During his speech at the event Trump urged fans to leave the stadium if players kneel for the anthem. He also urged owners to get rid of the players who kneel by saying, “Get that son of a bi**h off the field right now, he’s fired. He’s fired!”
NFL owners and players have met several times to talk through the issue, but some players still continue to kneel during the national anthem. The NFL has not taken action against those individuals, to the clear disappointment of the president.
