The veterans group whose Super Bowl ad was rejected by the NFL is not giving up on their message.
American Veterans wanted to run a spot during Sunday’s Super Bowl with a simple suggestion: “Please Stand.” After the NFL rejected it on the basis that the advertisement was too “political,” AMVETS is now responding with a PSA to reinforce the message they want to get across.

AMVETS has produced a 30-second public service announcement expanding their message to not only suggest that Americans stand for the national anthem, but that they get involved in other “basic values of civic responsibility” like public service and exercising the right to vote.
In a statement provided to The Daily Caller, AMVETS Executive Director Joe Chenelly explained why the NFL was wrong to dismiss their message, which has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with respect. (RELATED: Roger Goodell Stands By NFL’s Decision Not To Run Veterans Super Bowl Ad)
“Our message has always been patriotic and polite. It simply requests that people choose to stand during the National Anthem. It neither judges, vilifies or even opposes those who choose otherwise,” Chenelly said. “We’re simply asking that people choose standing, and the NFL has made it harshly clear that it does not want veterans delivering this message anywhere near its biggest game. We think that’s wrongheaded.”
