“Game of Thrones” show creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are getting involved with the world of “Star Wars.”

The Hollywood Reporter reported the following:

Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are joining the Star Wars Galaxy.

The duo will write and produce a new series of films, Disney and Lucasfilm announced Tuesday.

The new film series will be separate from the trilogy The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is developing, and will also stand alone from the Skywalker Saga, which J.J. Abrams is working on with the upcoming Episode IX. No release dates have been set for the series from the HBO power duo.

How many “Star Wars” movies is Disney planning on pumping out? This is starting to get a little crazy, and I’m not really sure it’s for the better of the film franchise. Making a ton of these movies, like with anything that is overly produced, will generally result in a loss of quality. The same can be said with just about everything.

Having said that, I’m a huge fan of the saga, and I wouldn’t object to some more content if it’s great. The obvious clause there is that we don’t need more garbage from “Star Wars.” I think the prequels filled that quota for our entire lives.

Also, what direction are these new movies going to go in? We already have the structure for a Skywalker saga, Han Solo movies, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the final episode in the new trilogy. What other characters are even left? The only one that really sticks out to me is Yoda, but I don’t think there’s enough material to justify a new saga. Plus, what fan even wants to really see that? Yoda went out like a boss. Let’s leave his story alone.

I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see what comes of this new venture.
