After falsely claiming the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia didn’t believe the AR-15 was protected under the Second Amendment, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough invoked Scalia again, Tuesday on “Morning Joe” to push gun control.

“And of course for all those that say I have the right to carry around whatever the hell I want to carry around, it’s my constitutional right. No, no you know you don’t,” Scarborough said. “Connecticut proves Justice Scalia was right in Heller. There are limitations. Scalia wrote it. There are limitations to gun control.” (RELATED: FACT CHECK: Would Reagan And Scalia Have Supported An Assault Weapons Ban?)

Scarborough also praised high school students protesting for more gun control and thinks they can have a greater impact on the state and local level, as opposed to in Washington.

“These students have a much better chance of having an impact on the state level and places like Tallahassee, even though that’s one of the most conservative pro gun states in America,” Scarborough said. “But they have a better opportunity to make change there, then they do up in Washington, D.C.”

“If we’re just talking about this subset of gun killings like at high schools, actually state legislation could make a difference,” he concluded.
