College basketball conference tournaments will get underway in the next few days, and it’s time to separate the men from the boys.
Conference tournaments are the warmup to the big show of March Madness, but they are just as important. Why is that? Well, it’s pretty simple. You win your conference tournament and you’re in the big dance. This allows teams that are awful to potentially make a big run to end the season. The stakes can’t get any higher.
The Badgers are really bad this season, but we’ve now get a shot to punch our ticket to the dance. That’s the beauty of it. We can fight and claw our way out of this hell of a season and into the tournament. It’s win or go home every second of the way at this point. I’ve never been in this situation in my life. Usually we’re going to the tournament no matter what, but not this year.
That’s why I love this sport and why I love tournament time. It separates the winners from the losers. There are no excuses that can be made. You either win and find glory or you lose and go home. That’s the only way it ever should be.
The Big Ten gets underway Wednesday, and I’ll be ready. The beer will be cold, the televisions will be set to the proper channels and our journey into the great month of March will be underway.
Either get onboard with tournament time or get the hell out of our way. It’s a man’s game now, and that’s the only way it should ever be.
