A women-only college in California keeps hosting Venezuelan propagandists, with two government officials coming to speak Tuesday.

Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., invited Venezuelan Consul-Generals Jesus Chucho Garcia and Antonio Cordero to address “coups and imperial wars,” “African solidarities,” and Venezuela’s plan to create a “new society rooted in political participation, communal economies and democracy,” reported The Claremont Independent and Campus Reform.

“Despite the increase in economic sanctions from powers such as the United States, Canada, and the European Union, the Bolivarian Revolution [Venezuela’s revolutionary state] has built 2 million homes across the country for working class families in the last five years,” reads the event description, according to The Claremont Independent.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro compels real estate owners to sell their property at fixed prices, or else forfeit it to the government. The president has detained 3,500 people since 2014 on counts of alleged treason or incitement to violence; most detainees are not charged at all, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Absent from the event description are whether or not Garcia and Cordero will speak about government corruption, currency devaluation, failure to pay back Russian and Chinese creditors on time, and extrajudicial tortures and killings.

This is not the first time Scripps has invited and funded a visit from Cordero. The school also hosted the government official during its fall 2017 semester.

“Crazy but true, a $69k a year college funds lecture series touting ‘success’ of #Venezuela,” Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said on Twitter. “Wonder if part of lecture series is about how to destroy economy, imprison opponents,or allow drug lords like [Diosdado Cabello] to control [government].”

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Scripps for comment but received none in time for press.
