The news that the Philadelphia Eagles were officially uninvited from the White House by President Trump on Monday did not sit well with left-wing Twitter.
“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow,” read the White House statement. “They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.” (RELATED: Trump Cancels Eagles Reception Amid National Anthem Protests)
Liberals and Trump haters were quick to take to Twitter to hammer the president and the decision to cancel the scheduled visit.
Former Eagle Torrey Smith contended that Trump should have allowed the “men and women that wanted to go” to go.
So many lies smh
Here are some facts
1. Not many people were going to go
2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem
3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military pic.twitter.com/89GUNhJ4eE— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 4, 2018
There are a lot of people on the team that have plenty of different views. The men and women that wanted to go should’ve been able to go. It’s a cowardly act to cancel the celebration because the majority of the people don’t want to see you. To make it about the anthem is foolish

NFL Hall of Famer Chris Carter tweeted that perhaps former President Obama “should invite the Eagles to his house for a barbecue.”

Others, including journalists, celebrities, and politicians, just had to get their two cents in too.
Dan Rather called Trump’s move “McCarthyism.”
Trump disinvites Eagles from White House – while millions of Americans hurt. Puerto Rico suffers. Allies fret. The planet warms. He uses our National Anthem to sow disunity in what's supposed to be the UNITED States of America. I think history will mark it as akin to McCarthyism.

Donald Trump banned the Philadelphia Eagles from the White House because he wanted to remind us that he’s both a racist and a loser.

Any NFL who isn't infuriated by Trump's actions against the Eagles and doesn't speak out is a feckless cunt

Plenty of athletes refused to visit Barack Obama at the White House.
Matt Birk. Tim Thomas. Three 1972 Dolphins (Obama honored their perfect season). Seemingly all of NASCAR.
Obama never threw a fit and uninvited teams or athletes to save face like Trump did with the Eagles.

I am a lifelong @Lions fan, but you @Eagles players are welcome at my house in Wimberley, TX anytime. Even though i was born in Detroit and live in Cowboys/Texans country, all my neighbors believe in the patriotism you stand for.

.@realDonaldTrump rescinding the @Eagles' White House invitation, is like a guy who knows he's about to get dumped canceling the date the night before.
You're not fooling anyone, Donnie.#FlyEaglesFly

So it’s not new news several of the Eagles were participating in peaceful demonstrations during the national anthem, and weren’t interested in going to the White House. In other words, this was a political setup by Trump.

Eagles stunt is straight out of WH politics of division handbook. At its core: pure racism.

Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey invited the Eagles for a Capitol visit instead.
I’m proud of what the @Eagles accomplished this year. I’m skipping this political stunt at the White House and just invited the Eagles to Congress. @Eagles How about a tour of the Capitol? https://t.co/niWR7zkSYx
