President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday, while Hollywood celebrities melted down on social media.

The sight of the president sitting down with the Russian leader triggered the anti-Trump “Resistance,” who blasted the meeting as the “#TreasonSummit.” (Many anti-Trump activists continue to believe that Donald Trump colluded with Vladimir Putin to deprive Hillary Clinton of the presidential election.)

As if to further torment his political adversaries, President Trump gave Russian President Putin a *wink* at the meeting.

Film director Rob Reiner (alias “Meathead”) lambasted Trump, while casually dropping a MoveOn petition.

Star Trek alum George Takei referenced a Hillary Clinton campaign video while giving his hot take.

Bette Midler called Trump an “outright traitor” in a narrative currently popular on anti-Trump Twitter.

Midler is referencing the president’s tweet on Monday: “Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!”

John Cusack furthered the “traitor” narrative in response to a tweet by Mother Jones editor David Corn.

Film director and producer Michael Moore colorfully added a Russian expletive to his Trump bashing tweet ahead of the president’s summit.

Chelsea Handler also weighed in on the summit in response to President Trump’s tweet.

“He didn’t believe it could happen, and it did happen,” she wrote. “He did not stop them, so by taking no action whatsoever, you are carrying on the legacy of your favorite president, Barack Obama. While you’re blowing your boyfriend Putin at your summit, know that evil villains fall hardest.”

Guardians of the Galaxy writer James Gunn argued that Trump should be impeached.

“If you really don’t think Trump is in Putin’s pocket after he agrees with Putin over every US national security & law enforcement agency on the world stage, you’re blind. This is a betrayal to our country. Trump is a traitor & should be impeached.”

Gunn also argued that Putin financed the Trump campaign and Brexit.

“I can’t believe I’m even responding to this – but, give me a break,” he wrote. “Putin financed, whether independently or in tandem, both Brexit and the Trump campaigns. There is no one in the US government who disputes this except Trump himself.”

Rosanna Arquette chimed in and kept it pithy.

“The stench is overwhelming it’s stinky in Helsinki #treasonSunmit [sic],” she wrote.

Novelist Stephen King also opined on the summit.

“Unless one of the translators talks, we’ll never know what went on in that Helsinki meeting,” he wrote. “Putin’s a liar and Trump’s another. They are both showmen, and this is made-for-TV entertainment.”

Actor Don Cheadle also gave his take on the meeting in response to former CIA director John Brennan’s comment Trump is “wholly in the pocket of Putin.”

“[T]heir masks have been fully removed. they’re not now nor ever were patriots …,” Cheadle wrote.

Actress Mia Farrow also reacted to the summit.

“The exclusive Trump/Putin meeting now makes perfect sense,” she wrote. “Today another shoe dropped. Undeniably, Trump’s first allegiance is to Russia.”

Director Adam McKay unloaded in response to a Garry Kasparov tweet.

“The whole thing makes me queasy,” he wrote. “Such a sad way for this country to go. Criminals, racists and fools pulling us down, led by Putin and his orange lap dog.”

Actor Zach Braff also chimed in on the trending story.

“Treason is trending,” he wrote. “The president sided with Putin over the USA.”

Rosie O’Donnell kept her remarks brief while attaching what appeared to be her artistic view on the matter.

“#TreasonSummit #ImpeachTrump,” she wrote.

It’s going to be a long next few years for the Hollywood left.
