Soledad O’Brien, host of Hearst TV’s “Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien,” took some backlash after making a comment on Twitter about Candace Owens’ eyeliner.
O’Brien was responding to a segment of MSNBC’s “The Beat With Ari Melber” during which Owens got into a heated debate with Michael Eric Dyson.
I normally stay calm but yesterday I was fed up. Fed up with the violent Democrats using black people to push lies. Fed up with them refusing to acknowledge that we are finally winning.
I will continue to defend @realDonaldTrump & the black community until we are ALL awakened. pic.twitter.com/OjftcbNC6N

O’Brien reacted to the clip by calling Owens “a hot babbly mess,” but added, “one must respect the excellent job someone did on her eyeliner.”

O’Brien was quickly taken to task for her observation.
She was recently liberal and had an awakening. Her story is an interesting one and reveals common ground for both sides.
But sure, eyeliner. https://t.co/belIeUXVl2— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 8, 2018
No matter how far out of high school they are, some ladies are always one mimosa away from being catty and petty to other women. #InternationalCatDay https://t.co/agKiRuNw8X

O’Brien’s comments are just the latest in a long line of personal attacks aimed at conservative women and their appearances — a trend that many noted would not be accepted if the attacks were aimed at women on the left.
Ivanka dresses too girly to be taken seriously.
Fox gals are too blonde to have smart analysis.
Now Candace Owen’s eyeliner is the only thing worth taking the time to note. But the left is the “pro-woman” side, amiright? https://t.co/NPEnqEjOVJ
