Attorney Michael Avenatti fired off a series of tweets on Tuesday after learning that Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, was planning to make a deal with prosecutors. In addition to praising his client, Stephanie Clifford (better known as Stormy Daniels), Avenatti fired warning shots at both President Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani.
Avenatti set the stage by crediting Daniels with bravery for coming forward, and claimed that “history will rightfully treat her as a hero for what lies ahead.”
We should all take a moment and applaud the tremendous courage and fortitude of @StormyDaniels, who has refused to be silent, who has refused to back down, and who has allowed facts to be presented in the court of public opinion, which some may argue is the most efficient.

Avenatti then set his sights on former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, saying that Trump had “misplayed” the situation and urging him to “buckle up.”
.@RudyGiuliani Buckle Up Buttercup. You and your client completely misplayed this… https://t.co/peLpswrDO1

He also warned that Cohen’s deal could allow the stay to be lifted in the civil case against Trump, claiming that could open the door to deposing the president under oath.
The developments of today will permit us to have the stay lifted in the civil case & should also permit us to proceed with an expedited deposition of Trump under oath about what he knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it. We will disclose it all to the public.

The stay on his civil case against Trump has kept Avenatti off the cable news shows in recent weeks, but he has kept busy raising money for Democrats and eyebrows over hints at a possible presidential run.
