Mayor Bill de Blasio hosted a New York City gathering on Monday in support of Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, but a selfie he shared at the end of the event raised a few eyebrows.
The event, titled, “NYC Stands With Survivors,” was held on the steps of City Hall and included remarks from the city’s first lady Chirlane McCray.

McCray tweeted her own selfie, captioned, “I hear you. I believe you. I stand with you.”

De Blasio followed her lead with a selfie of his own, captioned simply with the hashtag #believesurvivors.

Responses to de Blasio’s tweet included questions about whether or not he believed Juanita Broaddrick and references to the Staten Island groundhog that died after being dropped by the NYC mayor.
