The latest round of college football playoff rankings were released Tuesday night on ESPN.
There wasn’t much movement at all, which shouldn’t surprise anybody because not a single top 10 team lost this past weekend. (RELATED: The Latest College Football AP Poll Is Here. Do You Agree With Number Three?)
- Alabama
- Clemson
- Notre Dame
- Michigan
- Georgia
- Oklahoma
- LSU
- Washington State
- West Virginia
- Ohio State
In my mind, at this current moment in time, it’s Alabama and Clemson miles ahead of everybody else. Now, I’m open to hearing arguments about which team should be locked into the top spot. Clemson had a scare this year against Syracuse, but has pretty much destroyed everybody else with ease.
Alabama has blown away all the competition. It’s almost not fair for opponents of either teams.

As I said in my own power rankings and the AP poll, I have no problem with Michigan being ahead of Georgia. Their only loss is on the road to third ranked Notre Dame. Georgia loss to LSU. On paper, you just have to take Michigan. I don’t care how much complaining I get out of SEC fans. That’s simply the truth.

Now, what I think we all want to see happen is Washington State to win out. Put Mike Leach and his guys in the playoff immediately! Don’t even think about it. Just do it.
In the words of somebody much wiser than me, if it feels good, then do it. Those are words to live by, and putting WSU in the playoff would feel great.
