The Republican National Committee (RNC) launched a six-figure advertisement buy this week targeted at 20 congressional Democrats across the country, asking constituents to push Congress to approve the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The USMCA, a change from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), is a bipartisan trade agreement that some think could benefit America’s farmers, ranchers, businesses, and workers. Once approved by Congress, the USMCA is supposed to help longstanding trade problems by giving American businesses more freedom to sell their goods and services throughout North America.
In 2016, President Donald Trump won all of the 20 districts targeted in the ad buy. These districts are currently represented by Democrats in Congress, many of whom campaigned on working with Trump, but are now siding with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
“While President Trump is keeping his promise to fight for fairer trade deals, Democrats are intent only on fighting President Trump,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said to the Daily Caller. “The USMCA will spur economic growth, create thousands of jobs, and allow American businesses to thrive in the modern economy. Congress needs to get on board and pass the USMCA on behalf of the American people.”
The ad buy will run for two weeks on Facebook and Google and Youtube in the following districts:
AZ-01, IA-01, IA-02, IA-03, IL-14, ME-02, MI-08, MI-11, MN-07, NH-01, NJ-02, NJ-03, NJ-05, NM-02, NV-03, OK-05, PA-08, VA-02, VA-07, WI-03
“President Trump is replacing the NAFTA disaster with the new USMCA. 75,000 new jobs for American auto workers. A massive boost to farmers and ranchers. And Nancy Pelosi has still done nothing. Tell Nancy: Support better trade deals! Pass USMCA!,” one of the advertisements says. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: RNC Raised A Historic Amount Of Money In February)
