Jason Momoa continues to be everyone’s favorite actor and it might be because he comes from a small Midwestern town.

Momoa opened up about his Midwest roots during an interview published Wednesday by Men’s Health.

The “Game of Thrones” star was raised in Norwalk, Iowa by his mother. His father still lives in Hawaii, where Momoa was born, and is a painter. Momoa claimed he spent his time growing up finding his own adventures. He played street hockey and like to go rock climbing. “Even though I work in Hollywood, I’m 100 percent roots Midwest,” Momoa told the outlet. “I work hard and don’t take anything for granted. I’m a big family guy.”

It’s so refreshing to hear actors talk about their life growing up and have it sound similar to the life regular people have growing up. Sometimes Hollywood actors are in tune with the rest of the world when they come from a background like Momoa’s.

There is nothing better than a hard-working man who really loves his family. That seems like what you get with Momoa. It can’t get better than that. It’s also good to know that he doesn’t take anything for granted which means his fame is not lost on him.
