Progressives tried to turn an Amazon union drive in Alabama into a civil rights crusade, but the overwhelmingly black workforce there rejected it.
Workers at an Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama, voted by a margin of 1,798-738 not to unionize. About half of the workers didn’t vote at all, meaning less than 16% of the total employees at the facility ultimately supported unionization.
