Canadian hockey star Blayre Turnbull became an absolute legend Tuesday night.

The superstar hockey player hurt her ankle while celebrating the team’s huge victory over the USA to win the IIHF Women’s World Championship gold medal, but she wouldn’t be denied a chance to soak up the moment. After she received medical care, the former Wisconsin Badgers star returned to the ice on a stretcher to take in the moment with her teammates.

Watch the awesome situation unfold below.

Even though it’s disappointing the USA didn’t win the game, which featured a ton of former Wisconsin players, it’s awesome to watch Turnbull battle through to still celebrate with her team.

She clearly suffered a serious injury. Yet, you only get so many cracks at gold medals in your life. Injured ankle or not, you have to party when you win a gold medal, and that’s exactly what Turnbull did.

Hockey players are simply cut from a different kind of cloth, and I say that as a major compliment. Props to her for refusing to stay down after getting hurt.
