Ryan Bingham, known to many as “Yellowstone” character “Walker,” said in an interview that show creator Taylor Sheridan would only keep his character alive under one condition.
Sheridan first approached Bingham with the opportunity to write some music for the excellently-scored hit TV show, according to Looper. After the pair met and started hanging out, Sheridan reportedly said he should just write Bingham into the series.

“He found out I grew up riding horses … So he said, ‘Well, I oughta just write you a part in the show … I’ll just write something small,'” Bingham told Wide Open Country. The guitar-playing ex-con “Walker” was born out of a friendship, and went on to net Bingham 23 episodes of “Yellowstone” to-date, Looper noted. “If you do good, I’ll keep you in there and if you suck we’ll just kill you off,” Sheridan reportedly said. It’s been quite some time since Bingham told this story, and probably even longer since Sheridan told him the rules, so clearly, he does not “suck” as he is still around in season four.
Fans of the series probably remember when Bingham’s character was supposed to be taken to the train station but ended up getting off pretty lightly. That did not stop him getting dragged back to Dutton Ranch, shortly thereafter.
