Two teenagers were among three injured during a shooting at the Gurnee, Illinois, Six Flags park Sunday, according to police.

Gurnee Police responded to 911 calls reporting shots fired around 9:50 pm. The suspect drove a white sedan into the amusement park parking lot, exited the car and began shooting at another person. The suspect later fled the scene, according to police.

Emergency responders transported the two injured individuals, who were 17 and 19 years old, to the Advocate Condell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A third individual was wounded in the shoulder but declined transport to the hospital. (RELATED: Nearly 50 People Shot In Chicago Over Weekend Amid Skyrocketing Crime)

“The shooting this evening was not a random act, and appeared to be a targeted incident that occurred outside the park,” police said.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.

Crime complaints rose 52% in the first 7 days of the month of August in Chicago. This past weekend, shootings in Chicago killed 7 and wounded 40, CBS News reported. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot had previously called to slash the city’s police budget by $80 million, but during a briefing in December 2021, she begged law enforcement to help her crack down on illegal guns.

Gurnee Police did not respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
