After a government spending frenzy the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Second World War, liberals suddenly appear astonished taxpayers are footing the bill after a handful of migrants were shipped to Martha’s Vineyard.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday sent two planes of illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard as part of a broader effort to transport migrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border illegally to Democrat-run sanctuary cities.

Meanwhile, two buses of illegal migrants were sent Thursday morning to Vice President Kamala Harris’ front steps by Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. The buses came from Eagle Pass, Texas, and transported 75 to 100 illegal migrants from Venezuela, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico.

But the shockwaves felt throughout the liberal orb weren’t because the consequences of their policies were showing up on their front door. Rather, it was because liberals, seemingly for the first time, have realized anything government-funded is taxpayer-funded!

CNN correspondent Rosa Flores complained Thursday that taxpayers are footing the bill for the bussing of illegal migrants out of border states. (RELATED: CNN Host & Ken Burns Compare DeSantis Sending Migrants To Martha’s Vineyard To The Holocaust)

“These migrants do not have money,” Flores said during a segment on CNN. “A lot of them are here for economic reasons. A lot of them do not have money to get out of the border area and into their destinations to their families across the country what the buses are doing, courtesy of the taxpayer, is getting them closer to that destination,” she added.

“You know, Texas, for years, has focused on the enforcement, on the law enforcement on the border,” Flores continued, noting Texas officials have focused “on filling in the gaps of security, where border patrol can’t because of surges at different points in time that we all covered. What has changed, and this is the interesting and fascinating part of this. What has changed is the cost. Who is paying for this?”

“The migrants would pay for the bus tickets themselves. Their family members across the country would send them money to the border and pay for these bus tickets or plane tickets so it was coming from the pockets of the migrants or family members. What is different now is that the taxpayer is now paying for it. It’s being politicized. That’s what is different. That’s what we’re seeing across the border,” Flores continued.

But Flores wasn’t the only one apparently surprised by who is paying.

The Tampa Bay Times noted the migrants taken to Martha’s Vineyard “volunteered to be taken there at taxpayer expense,” while MSNBC’s Steve Benen seemed shocked DeSantis used taxpayer funds to fly migrants, dedicating an entire article to taxpayers funding whatever the government wants.

“Imagine the message this sends: if you reach the United States, Ron DeSantis might give you a free flight to a lovely coastal town in New England,” Benen – who is also a producer for “The Rachel Maddow Show” wrote, arguing this type of messaging wouldn’t discourage migrants from crossing the border illegally.

“It would appear DeSantis and his team may have used taxpayer money to fling desperate migrant families at Martha’s Vineyard as part of an apparent election-season stunt,” Benen continued in the article.

Democratic Florida State Rep. Michael Grieco reminded people of the obvious on Twitter.
