“Good Day Philadelphia” host Mike Jerrick clashed with Democratic Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Wednesday over the city’s soaring crime numbers.

Krasner was discussing Philadelphia’s spike in crime on the local Fox affiliate’s morning show just hours after five people were killed following a football scrimmage at Roxborough High School.

Krasner told Jerrick that, as Philadelphia approaches 400 homicides so far this year, the city needs to focus on “cutting edge enforcement, coupled with a serious investment in prevention.”

In June, three Republican members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives announced plans to draft articles of impeachment against Krasner, arguing that his progressive policies have led to an increase in gun violence.

Krasner and Jerrick were discussing crime when the host questioned whether Krasner’s progressive policies might be exacerbating the city’s crime problem.

“We all have to work together and the reality is, we have been more effective in—” Krasner began before Jerrick cut in.

“And you are a reform district attorney, everybody in the country knows that, but maybe it’s not working,” the host said.

“It is working,” Krasner claimed. “The reality is that—”

“There’s 1,000 people killed in 20 months!” Jerrick said, grabbing his face in disbelief.

“It is working,” Krasner repeated. “The reality is, when you look at all these different jurisdictions, we have had a devastating blow from the pandemic, and there is absolutely no correlation between being progressive or traditional and these rates of crime.”

“These states in the United States that have a rate of homicide that is 40% higher are MAGA states, they are Trump states, I’ll say it again, the rate of homicide in Trump states as compared to Biden states, take all 50 of them, is 40% higher,” he added. He also claimed that “eight out of 10 of the most violent cities are Trump cities.”

Jerrick pointed out that Republicans tend to blame “blue cities” for high crime rates.

“Republicans lie!” Krasner shot back. “That is what they do.” (RELATED: Video Allegedly Shows Rowdy Vandals Ransacking Philadelphia Wawa)

“Not all Republicans lie,” Jerrick responded, sounding exasperated.

The ten most dangerous cities in the U.S. are St. Louis, Missouri; Jackson, Mississippi; Detroit, Michigan; New Orleans, Louisiana; Baltimore, Maryland; Memphis, Tennessee; Cleveland, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Kansas City, Missouri and Shreveport, Louisiana. All ten cities have Democratic mayors. Missouri, Mississippi, Maryland, Tennessee and Ohio have Republican governors.
