Democratic Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs said Wednesday on CNN there should be no government-imposed restrictions on abortion.

“You spoke with our colleague Dana Bash recently,” Kaitlan Collins, CNN’s White House correspondent and former Daily Caller reporter, began. “I didn’t feel like you really answered her question on abortion. What limits on abortion do you support?”

“I have been unequivocal in this answer. I believe the decision to have an abortion should be between a woman and her doctor period. Politicians and the government don’t belong in these kinds of decisions.”

“Does that mean as governor you would veto any law with any limit on abortion?” co-host Poppy Harlow asked.

“I would veto any additional restrictions on abortion that are sent to my desk as governor, yes,” Hobbs responded.

Hobbs has refused to give a direct answer as to whether she supports limits on abortion, bucking the question on “Face the Nation” in early October. Hobbs said she opposed the national 15-week abortion ban proposed by Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham. Hobbs said “abortion is a very personal decision that belongs between a woman and her doctor.” (RELATED: Dems Are ‘Pushing Fake News’ On Hobbs Campaign Break-In To Save Themselves From A November Beating, Watters Says)

“The government and politicians don’t belong in that decision. We need to let doctors perform the care that they are trained and take an oath to perform.”

Hobbs’ opponent, Kari Lake, supports Arizona’s near-total abortion ban from 1864 that is currently being debated in courts.

A recent Fox 10 Insider Advantage poll found Lake leads Hobbs by 11 points.
