Police reportedly arrested a male protester Wednesday after he was caught on camera throwing eggs and King Charles and Camilla.

King Charles and Camilla were carrying out their duties at a ceremonial engagement in Northern England when eggs began to fly right past them, breaking and causing a mess right at their feet. Video footage shows the smashed eggs on the ground, and a man can be heard yelling slogans at them from the crowd. Police rushed in and immediately took the protester into custody.

“The 23-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence following an incident on Micklegate in York,” police said in their statement, according to Reuters. “He currently remains in police custody.”

Royal fans in the crowd began chanting “God Save The King” as the police dragged the protester away from the scene. (RELATED: King Charles Reportedly Had An Entourage For His Teddy Bear – In His Adult Years)

King Charles and Camilla seemed relatively unaffected by the chaos that unfolded around them.

This isn’t the first time that eggs have been thrown at Royal members. Someone threw eggs at Queen Elizabeth’s royal car in 2022 during her visit to Nottingham, and in 1995 British protesters threw eggs at Charles in central Dublin, according to Reuters.
