A German Shepherd named Tank is being hailed a hero after he sprang into action to save his six-year-old pal from being mauled, video footage of the incident shows.

The clip has garnered more than 45 million views on TikTok. The footage shows Tank playing with the young boy at their Florida home when all of a sudden a dog darts across the street, heading straight toward the child.

Tank immediately appears to switch into protector mode, throwing himself between the charging dog and young boy. The video captures Tank snapping at the dog as the child runs toward his mother, who swooped in to pick him up.

The family’s other dog, a pit bull, also darted from out of the frame to help chase away the vicious dog.

The boy’s mom posted the video to TikTok and said “my Tanky saved [her son] from getting mauled or worst.”

The boy’s mom didn’t forget about Tank’s sidekick, posting a video saying, “I could never forget this little rollie pollie.”
