A former high school teacher is facing 32 sex crime charges, including 20 counts of possessing child pornography, following an ongoing investigation, according to ABC affiliate 13 News Now.

William Deacon IV, former teacher at Norfolk Public Schools in Virginia, was arrested in his home in September on five counts of proposing a sex act with a minor under the age of 15 and three counts of attempted indecent liberties with minor, according to 13 News Now. Deacon is now facing three counts of reproducing and selling child pornography and one count of sexual abuse of an animal in addition to 20 counts of possessing child pornography following a preliminary hearing on Thursday. Deacon was first arrested on the original charges from March 2022 but the Chesapeake Police Department’s ongoing investigation brought forward additional charges that happened in September, 13 News Now reported. Deacon, who allegedly possessed more than 13,000 files of child pornography, was denied bond on Friday.

After searching Deacon’s phone in September, the police department found “files containing images depicting child pornography,” 13 News Now reported.

Deacon is no longer an employee at Norfolk Public Schools, according to 13 News Now. The FBI assisted the Chesapeake Police Department in the investigation and arrest of Deacon.

The Chesapeake Police Department and Norfolk Public Schools did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
