Actress Rebel Wilson revealed Wednesday that she lost her first child via surrogate to a miscarriage in 2022.

The Australian star shared the news during an interview on “The Pick Up with Britt, Laura, and Mitch,” describing how she’d only just started her relationship with Ramona Agruma at the time.

“I’d only been dating Ramona for two months, and I had to be like, ‘By the way, the surrogate is out of the first trimester and so it’s serious, and I’m going to have a baby at the end of the year,'” she told the show’s co-hosts.

The baby miscarried before entering the world, Wilson said. After suffering through the devastating news, Wilson tried again and welcomed a baby girl named Royce via surrogate and sperm donor in November 2022.

Wilson described the process of finding a sperm donor as a “concierge” service-style “sperm shop.” She was apparently shown a number of images of the potential donors, as well as details about their genetic history. Donors also made voice recordings where they answered a series of questions that helped Wilson make a decision, she told the co-hosts.

“I had like a sperm concierge, so they trawl through all the sperm shops and then give me the 10 best that match my criteria,” Wilson said. (RELATED: Britney Spears Shares Devastating Family News: ‘We Have Lost Our Miracle’)

Throughout the process of coming out, Wilson’s family “has just been amazing,” she told the show. “Ramona’s family hasn’t been as accepting and so, in many respects, it’s been a lot harder on her to have to make the news public,” she said. “With her, she’s not in the public eye, it’s much harder on her. It’s so sad to see what happened with her family over it. Hopefully, people will change their attitude about things.”
