South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott continues to make moves that signal a possible run for president in 2024, according to Politico.
Scott will be holding a donor retreat in Charleston, South Carolina next month and will visit key early primary states the same week, according to Politico. The “Faith in America Summit” will host donors both from his state and across the country to take part in discussions and receive a “political update” from the senator.
Shortly before his donor retreat, Scott will hold events in Iowa and New Hampshire on April 12 and 13, respectively, and will continue to travel to early primary states following the mid-April summit, Politico reported.
The senator will gain “clarity” on whether he will jump into the race “sooner rather than later,” a source close to Scott told Politico.
Scott has already paid a visit to Iowa in February where he met with prominent pastors, as Scott is focused on garnering the evangelical Christian electorate, according to Politico.
“Knowing Tim Scott’s heart, he’s going to get in literally when the Lord tells him it’s right to,” Eaddy Roe Willard, South Carolina Executive Director of the National Excellence In Public Service Series and political consultant, previously told the DCNF.
Other declared and potential 2024 contenders have also made trips to Iowa, including former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence.
Scott is working towards gaining more of a national footing to be able to go up against some of these big name candidates, Politico reported. Alongside DeSantis, Haley, Pence and others, he spoke to donors at the Club For Growth retreat in the beginning of March.

The super PAC Opportunity Matters Fund Action, led by Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado and Republican consultant Rob Collins, intends to be in line with a possible Scott campaign, according to Politico.
“It would be a mistake by anyone to think that this is a two-person race,” Gardner told Politico. “Should Sen. Scott get in, I think the doors will open wide.”

“He’s sitting on a massive war chest,” Alex Stroman, former South Carolina GOP Executive Director, previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Tim Scott is not someone that I would count out.”
Scott’s political team did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
