We’re officially going to have a new NFL champion, ladies and gentlemen!

The Seattle Kraken and Colorado Avalanche squared off in Game 7 on Sunday night in their opening round series of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Kraken advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals by taking out the defending champion Avalanche.

If that doesn’t sound like a big enough accomplishment, the Kraken can take it even further, making NHL history with their playoff-advancing victory. Seattle is the only team to win their first-ever playoff series against a defending Stanley Cup champion, according to ESPN.

The Kraken are in their second year of existence as a franchise, with Seattle having a horrible first season to put themselves in the NHL Draft Lottery. A year later and they’re going to the Western Conference Semis.

Pretty cool story.

I watched a little bit of this game before I was out; it was way too late for me living in Florida and this being out West. It was intense throughout when I was watching. And then for it to end like this?

That’s the NHL Playoffs, baby.

You can’t help but to love this stuff. (RELATED: Florida Panthers Pull Off Mammoth Upset Over Boston Bruins To Advance In NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs)

And by the way, how fresh are the Seattle Kraken jerseys?

Love those guys.
