Beloved Soap Opera Star Dead At Age 70

Beloved soap opera star Jacklyn Zeman died at the age of 70, according to a statement released by “General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini.

Valentini confirmed Zeman’s death with a heartfelt tribute posted to Twitter May 10. “On behalf of our
@GeneralHospital family, I am heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman,” he wrote.

“Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work,” Valentini said.

Valentini went on to share some words of support to Zeman’s friends, fans, and colleagues.

“Jackie will be greatly missed, but her positive spirit will always live on with our cast and crew,” he said.

“We send our heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones, friends, and family, especially her daughters Cassidy and Lacey. #GH,” Valentini tweeted.

Zeman joined the cast of “General Hospital” in 1977 and stood out for her passion and devotion to her role. She appeared in a total of 880 episodes and received four Daytime Emmy nominations for her performances. She was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy for playing Sofia Madison in “The Bay,” according to People.

General Hospital posted a message to Twitter in honor of the star’s dedication to the show.

“Jacklyn Zeman has been a beloved member of the ‘General Hospital’ and ABC family since she originated the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago,” they wrote.

“She leaves behind a lasting legacy for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of the bad girl turned heroine and will always be remembered for her kind heart and radiant spirit,” they said. (RELATED: Superstar NFL Quarterback Joe Kapp Dead At 85)

Warm messages of condolence are being shared on social media as fans, friends, and General Hospital colleagues pay tribute to the soap opera star.

Zeman’s cause of death was not revealed.
