Christie’s auction house will be putting photographs from Madonna’s iconic ‘SEX’ book on the auction block for the very first time as part of its “ongoing anniversary celebration.”
The images are being auctioned a full 30 years after their release, according to Christie’s. “Christie’s is pleased to announce its participation in the ongoing anniversary celebration initiated by Madonna and Saint Laurent’s re-issue of SEX the boundary-pushing 1992 photography book by Madonna and Steven Meisel,” a statement shared on Christie’s website said.

The racy nude photos are believed to begin auction at nearly $300,00o. They feature Madonna in raunchy poses against various backdrops, including on the beach, and inside burlesque hotels, according to The Mirror.
Madonna Will sign the super-steamy images, which were taken by famous celebrity photographer Steven Meisel, during the live sale.
“As part of the project, Christie’s will present Madonna x Meisel – The Sex Photographs an auction of over 40 works, as editions of one, in a live sale taking place in New York on 6 October 2023,” Christie’s wrote in its announcement.
Madonna created waves when they were originally release. Many credited her for her freedom of expression, while others accused the star of overly sexualizing herself.

Madonna lent her own voice to the conversation by sharing snippets of her photographs on Instagram, giving her 19 million fans and followers a sneak peek.
