You might wanna pop your popcorn for this one.

In a move that’s never been seen before, multiple star NFL running backs have reportedly joined forces to fight the declining market for their position.

These NFLers have launched a group text chain, which will serve as a platform for them to talk strategy, voice their concerns (or at least text them) and also strive for improvement, according to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio who got this information by a league source.

The plan comes together as Saquon Barkley (New York Giants), Josh Jacobs (Las Vegas Raiders) and Tony Pollard (Dallas Cowboys) — all on the franchise tag — failed to land long-term contracts by the deadline.

ESPN’s Domonique Foxworth, who played in the NFL as a cornerback, interestingly said this about the situation:

I don’t know how you guys feel about Domonique Foxworth, I know he’s had his fair share of ridiculous left-wing views, but he’s absolutely on point here — I love the idea of a performance-based pay bonus. I’d be game for something like that.

Now as far as where we currently stand, there are two ways that I feel about this entire thing:

  1. As a Miami Dolphins fan, I’m selfishly hoping this works out to our advantage and we can end up landing Dalvin Cook on a discount. Shame on me, I know, but I want a Super Bowl.
  2. As a sports journalist and blogger, and just an overall human being, I want to see the running backs get paid. That post is one of the biggest playmaker positions, so why shouldn’t they get their money?

And honestly, I’m fine either way.

One way, my team ends up with a superstar running back. The other, the players deservingly get paid. (RELATED: The Cleveland Browns Are Unsure About Brownie The Elf’s Gender)
