Footage shared Thursday by AccuWeather showed the moment a street buckled in China during extreme heat in July.

The video, taken in Baoding, China, shows the moment a motorcyclist narrowly avoided getting thrown into the air as the pavement beneath his feet literally bursts into the sky. Only a small portion of the roadway was damaged, but it looks like it splintered further than just the initial site.

China, like much of the rest of the world, is currently dealing with a pretty intense heatwave, according to Reuters. Apparently, the northwest township of Sanbao recorded temperatures of 52.2°C on July 16th, beating the previous record of 50.3°C in 2015, EuroNews reported.

The ongoing heat has damaged power grids, cotton production, and the production of other crops, as well as stoking fears of another drought. China experienced its worst drought in 60 years in 2022, and 2023 could be the same. (RELATED: ‘Starvation, Death, Destruction’: Superstar Actor Makes Strange Warning To Society)

Similar conditions are wreaking havoc throughout Europe, where wildfires have erupted throughout popular tourist destinations. In the U.S., people are being treated for extreme burns in intensive care units after falling onto sweltering-hot sidewalks in places like Arizona.

Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton decided that the hot weather is exclusively the fault of “MAGA Republicans” in an unhinged tweet sent in July.
