A woman discovered a dead body in her son’s bedroom at their home in South Los Angeles, police say.

The unnamed mother found the woman’s body wrapped in plastic Sunday, KTLA reported, citing the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). A “distinct gas smell” had compelled her to enter her son’s room, where she found the deceased 30-year-old, according to FOX11.

The LAPD responded to a phone call and arrived at the 2200 block of Wall Street. The victim was later identified as Hannah Rachel Collins, 30, the outlet reported, citing officials with the L.A. County Coroner’s Office. Police initially thought the victim was in her 20s before she was officially identified. (RELATED: Video Shows ‘Mob Of Criminals’ Ransacking Luxury Store In Broad Daylight)

Collins was declared dead at the scene, according to KTLA. The exact circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown.

The suspect was described as a 26-year-old Hispanic male, police told the outlet. He has not yet been arrested.

An 84-year-old woman was seriously injured after being shoved off a bus Saturday in another recent South Los Angeles incident. The suspect, known frequently to the area, reportedly spat on the victim as well. The victim struggled to remember the incident afterwards, according to her family.

A lifeguard discovered the naked dead body of a 32-year-old man at Malibu Lagoon State Beach on July 31. The deceased victim was identified as Javonnta Murphy, a rising rapper from Sylmar, California. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide detectives launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of Murphy’s death.
