Famous singer Adele revealed that she collapsed backstage during her Las Vegas residency concert at Caesars Palace as a result of extreme sciatica pain.

The announcement came after she required a rest during a recent show.

“I am going to sit down and rest my sciatica,” Adele told the crowd in the middle of her live show, according a report from The Sun published Saturday. She went on to tell her fans that this was a preventative measure, and explained she had recently suffered a more serious episode. “They picked my whole body up off the floor.”

Adele said the pain had her completely unable to hold herself up. She noted she had been attempting to alleviate the symptoms by using the gym in her Beverly Hills mansion, but suffered a setback.

“Early on this year I started bragging about my sciatica, I wasn’t feeling it any more. Then God brought it back,” she told concert-goers, according to The Sun.

“Sciatica refers to pain that travels along the path of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve travels from the lower back through the hips and buttocks and down each leg,” according to The Mayo Clinic. (RELATED: Elton John Rushed To Hospital)

“Sciatica most often occurs when a herniated disk or an overgrowth of bone puts pressure on part of the nerve. This causes inflammation, pain and often some numbness in the affected leg.”

Adele previously noted she had to “waddle” on stage as a result of her sciatica pain, but she has never addressed what caused this condition or when she began to suffer symptoms.
