Joel Gibbons of “Man vs Street” tackled a pretty tough question in the latest episode, shared Thursday: Do Americans Care If The Government Shuts Down?

The U.S. government is heading toward a potential shut down in 2023. Republicans have attempted to avoid such a situation by reaching an agreement on a bill … but it’s unlikely it’ll be passed in the Senate or even signed by President Joe Biden, because it would require Democrats to actually do some work to protect the country.

It sounds boring as heck right? Well, that’s because it is. Thankfully, Gibbons made the entire topic absolutely fascinating by simply asking real Americans about how a government shutdown would impact their lives.

“You’re funding the wrong stuff!” one woman explained to Gibbons. She was specifically referencing the growth in funding for LGBTQ messaging that is “corrupting people’s children.”

The woman’s friend then asked whether Biden had just given Ukraine another billion dollars. “I mean, like how much billions is he going to give them?” Another guy raised the same issue, saying that the money should have really been used to help Americans. “I think that’s a bullshit move,” he said. In fact, almost everyone was really angry about all the money Biden has sent to Ukraine, instead of focusing on healthcare, policing, homelessness and out-of-control mental illness and crime, according to everyone Gibbons spoke to.

Gibbons has undertaken some pretty significant social research throughout his career with “Man vs. Street,” but this is the most unanimous I’ve ever seen his interviewees be on any topic. If there’s one thing Americans know, it’s that our government doesn’t give a crap about us, so why should we give a crap about their shutdown?
