Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) slammed her fellow socialists for promoting a pro-Palestine rally in the city Monday, days after hundreds of Israelis were murdered in an invasion by the terror group Hamas.
The New York City Democratic Socialists of America promoted a rally for Palestinians on Sunday, less than a day after the attack commenced. The rally was apparently “in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to resist 75 years of occupation and apartheid,” the group tweeted.
It is unclear whether the pro-Palestine rally was prompted by the terrorist group’s decision to invade southern and central Israel on Saturday and start the systematic massacre of hundreds of Israeli men, women and children, but the timing is certainly disgusting on the part of the Democratic socialists. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the nation was “at war” following the surprise invasion, which is expected to escalate in the coming days.

“It should not be hard to shut down hatred and antisemitism where we see it. That is a core tenet of solidarity,” AOC told Playbook almost a full day after the rally took place. “The bigotry and callousness expressed in Times Square on Sunday were unacceptable and harmful in this devastating moment. President Joe Biden told those trapped in Israel by the genocidal invasion that they need to find their own flights home — in a tone not so dissimilar to his callousness during his failed Afghanistan withdrawal in 2021. Major airlines have canceled services out of Israel. It is unclear why Biden is choosing to strand Americans in a war zone. Again.
