I’ll take why soccer will never become a thing in America for $500, Alex.

A soccer manager in Italy was fired Monday after video shows that he blasted an opposing player with a headbutt at the end of a Sunday match.

After the incident took place during Lecce’s Serie A defeat to Hellas Verona, the former decided to sack their manager Roberto D’Aversa. The skipper pulled off the literal bone headedness following a spat that happened between Lecce defender Marin Pongracic and Verona striker Thomas Henry after the match was over. D’Aversa walked over to the situation and approached Henry, and though it originally looked like he was gonna handle things like a calm skipper, he decided to slam Henry in the head with a good ol’ fashioned headbutt. And right in front of the referees at that.

“After what happened at the end of the Lecce-Verona match, Lecce announces that it has relieved coach Roberto D’Aversa of his duties,” said Lecce in a statement. “Thanks go to the coach and his staff for the work carried out.”

I love soccer, you guys know this.

But man, I can’t blame Americans whatsoever for not getting into the beautiful game because of nonsense like this, though with that being said, I truly do appreciate the popcorn content myself as a spectator.

But I get it though … soccer, you either love it or hate it.
