Police arrested a male student Monday after a brawl erupted at a local high school in New York City, the New York Post reported.

A 15-year-old student was apprehended after a school brawl left four students with slash wounds. The altercation broke out early Monday morning at the school’s premises, according to the New York Post. The melee resulted in an 18-year-old boy with a cut on his face, and a 17-year-old boy with a cut on his mouth. They were quickly taken to a nearby hospital.

Two other students, 17 and 16 years old, injured their right hands and were treated at the school without needing to go to the hospital. All injuries were minor, the New York Post reported.

The school is not equipped with metal detectors, according to the New York Post. In response to the violence, the city’s Department of Education pledged its commitment to keeping students safe. (RELATED: Massive Brawl Featuring Molly Whops And Pepper Spray Breaks Out At High School Basketball Game In Georgia)
