Kenyan police arrested a man Monday suspected of killing at least 42 women since 2022, including his own wife.

Jomaisi Khalisia, 33, confessed to killing 42 women in less than three years after being arrested in relation to the gory murders of nine women, law enforcement said, according to the BBC. The bodies of the nine mutilated women were reportedly uncovered in a disused quarry used as a trash dump.

“[He] confessed to have lured, killed and disposed of 42 female bodies at the dumping site, all murdered between 2022 and as recent as Thursday,” Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) leader Mohamed Amin stated, according to the outlet.

Police revealed to reporters a handful of items recovered from Khalisia’s property believed to belong to the victims, including identification cards, clothing, a laptop and at least 10 cell phones, the outlet reported. A machete was found that law enforcement reportedly “believed was being used to dismember the victims.”

The victims were aged between 18 and 30, and were all killed in the same manner, police said, according to the BBC. “It is crystallising that we are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life, who has no respect and dignity,” Mr. Amin reportedly stated.

Khalisia was arrested at a bar in the early hours of Monday morning while viewing the Euro final, the outlet reported. (RELATED: Bodies Keep Turning Up In Austin Lake. Some Suspect A Serial Killer)

Another individual was reportedly arrested in relation to the case after they were found with a cell phone belonging to one of the victims, according to Mr. Amin. Their involvement is still unclear.
