Rihanna is now singing Rachel Dolezal’s praises.
During her lengthy interview with Vanity Fair, the 27-year-old was asked about the white NAACP chapter leader who pretended to be black.
“I think she was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit,” Rihanna said. “Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black?” (SLIDESHOW: 10 Models Who Are Just As Black As Rachel Dolezal)
“Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up.” (RELATED: Is Blake Shelton Dating Rihanna?)
Dolezal resigned from her position as a chapter president of the NAACP in June after her parents outed her as white.
She said she cried when she read Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair story.
“Because I resonated with some of the themes of isolation, of being misunderstood — to not know if you have a conversation with somebody, will that relationship then end because they have seen you as one way,” Dolezal said. (RELATED: Rachel Dolezal: ‘I Cried Reading Caitlyn Jenner’s Story’)
