President-elect Donald Trump has taken credit for his role in NFL ratings being on the decline.

The next president of the United States addressed the issue in front of supporters at a rally Thursday night in Cincinnati. (SLIDESHOW: These Stunning Women In Camo Aren’t Leaving Much To The Imagination)

“And then you look at the NFL. Well now they should start recovering. But their ratings were so far down. And you know what the reason was? This. Because this business is tougher than the NFL. The people liked it. Their ratings were down 20 or 21 percent. And it was because of us,” Trump said in part. (SLIDESHOW: This Supermodel Might Be The Sexiest NFL Girlfriend)

Some have also claimed that the NFL ratings are down because some players, such as Colin Kaepernick, have chosen to not stand during the national anthem. (RELATED: Hookstead’s HotTake: America Stood Up For Colin Kaepernick, He Should Stand For The Flag)

While the actually reason for the decline is likely a mixture of different things, there’s little doubt that the presidential election certainly had an impact.
