Donald Trump said Democrats are hoping for a government shutdown this week.
In a barrage of tweets Thursday, the president accused Democrats of blocking health care for coal miners, attempting to bail out insurance companies, jeopardizing the safety of American troops, asking “illegals to pour through our borders” and closing national parks right before summer vacation.

I promise to rebuild our military and secure our border. Democrats want to shut down the government. Politics!

What's more important? Rebuilding our military – or bailing out insurance companies? Ask the Democrats.

The House and Senate have been negotiating for weeks on a bill that would keep the government open past April 28, when most agencies run out of funding.
The potential shutdown — which would happen on Donald Trump’s 100th day in office — will happen if they do not pass a spending package that will cover the last five months of the fiscal year. (RELATED: White House Is Preparing For A Potential Government Shutdown Next Week)
