The sketch was made by Trump for a September 2005 charity event fighting against illiteracy. Coincidentally, Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain also attended the same fundraiser, The New York Times reported Friday.
The sketch, auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions, features Trump Tower at the center. The relatively basic rendering includes a simple rendering of the skyline with his iconic signature signed in gold.
“Light smudge and abrasion to right side, otherwise near fine condition,” the auction house said in its description. “Originally drawn by Trump for a charity event, and very rare, with only a handful of such drawings known.”
The piece has received almost five times more than the house’s normal auction traffic, according to Michael Kirk of Nate D. Sanders auctioneers.
