Republican Sen. Rand Paul said Tuesday that he will not vote for the Graham-Cassidy health care bill because it “immortalizes Obamacare.”

“The interesting thing is I think a ‘yes’ vote keeps Obamacare in place forever,” Paul said on Fox News. “The Graham-Cassidy bill essentially immortalized Obamacare.”

Sen. Paul has been a tough vote for Republicans to grab on health care reform because he has remained committed to voting on a full-repeal of Obamacare.

“It keeps Obamacare spending, keeps the taxes, all it does it reshuffle the proceeds from Democratic states–they keep the Obamacare spending but instead of sending it to Democrats they send it to Republican states,” he alleged. “That’s why I call it petty, but as a physician, there’s nobody that hates Obamacare and has seen the horrors of Obamacare, nobody wants to repeal it more than I have.”

“Ive supported every repeal but this bill just doesn’t repeal Obamacare. It’s Obamacare-lite but then it redistributes it to Republican states and I think that’s just petty,” he concluded.
