Arkansas has hired SMU football coach Chad Morris to be their next head coach.
ESPN’s Chris Low tweeted, “Arkansas and Chad Morris agree to a deal, and the Hogs plan to announce him as head coach later Wednesday, sources tell ESPN.”

I have to be honest here. I’m a shade surprised that I didn’t even get a phone call after Bret Bielema’s ousting. I never really expected to be the next coach for the Hogs, but not even a phone call? That’s a bit surprising. You’d think that the administrators down in Arkansas might have at least wanted to see what could be done to avoid disaster again.
After all, Bielema will go down as one of the worst coaches in SEC history. Arkansas certainly doesn’t want Morris following that path.
Lucky for them, my beef was never with Arkansas itself. It was with Bielema. I hope the Razorbacks and Morris experience nothing but success.
Props to me for being man enough to move on to the next big thing and let Arkansas blossom under new leadership. I hope this hire works out for the best because we all know the last one set the program back years.
