Three illegal immigrants who avoided arrest after Democratic Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf sent out a warning message of an impending raid, have been arrested for new crimes, according to Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.
The three illegal immigrants were arrested for new crimes including robbery and spousal abuse, Fox News reported. The news comes after ICE arrested people in late February, one day after Schaaf’s warning message, as part of a “targeted immigration enforcement operations.”
Just over 860 illegal immigrants avoided capture due to Schaaf’s warning message. More than 150 illegal immigrants were arrested during the four-day raid. Around half of the illegal immigrants arrested had past criminal history, including assault and weapons charges as well as other violent crimes. ICE Deputy Director Thomas Homan has criticized Schaaf for sending out the warning message to the public, saying she put the officers at greater risk by publicizing “her suspicions.”
