Journalists took to Twitter this week to mock the Democratic National Committee for a sad effort in hopes of turning out minority voters in the 2018 election cycle.
The DNC plans on raising $2.5 million dollars in order to get the votes of those who might not usually vote during the midterm election cycle, with a particular focus on nonwhite voters.
Reporters realized that this amount of money was actually not a very high number.

NYT says DNC’s new $2.5 million effort targeting minority voters is “likely the largest and most comprehensive effort ever by Dem Party.”
Except for 2010, when the DNC said it spent $3 million. Different year, same press release. https://t.co/9JsVE7juSFhttps://t.co/OTIV1mw3aH— Alex Thompson (@AlxThomp) June 21, 2018

The DNC recently received backlash due to low investment in minority communities.
DNC chair Tom Perez has been under harsh scrutiny due to the lack of investment in minority groups, particularly with black communities. (RELATED: DNC Chair Tom Perez Comes Under Fire For Lack Of Hiring Diversity)
