A poll placing President Donald Trump against several possible Democratic candidates for the 2020 presidential election revealed that voters are showing little support for Trump.
Politico and Morning Consult released the poll Wednesday. It was conducted between Aug. 16 and 18, which was days before the news of his former attorney Michael Cohen and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort came out.
Trump trails behind three of the more well-known candidates, former Vice President Joe Biden, Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
The majority of respondents to the poll said Trump would lose to Biden and Sanders, but the majority are undecided against Warren and the other eight possible candidates, which included Democratic Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey, lawyer Michael Avenatti, Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York and Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris of California.

The poll shows Sanders has the best chance of beating Trump, with 44 percent of respondents choosing him over the 32 percent who would choose Trump. (RELATED: Another Democratic Congressman Eyes 2020 Presidential Run)
Biden would be the next best competitor, beating Trump with 43 percent of the vote compared to Trump’s 31 percent.
Despite Sanders winning by a larger margin in this poll, Rasmussen Reports also released a poll Wednesday that showed Biden being the clear favorite among Democrats to be the 2020 nominee.
The poll shows 37 percent of likely Democratic voters would like to see Biden among six others to challenge Trump, and Sanders is a fading second.
Tyler Sinclair, Morning Consult’s managing director, said in the report that while Democrats are eager to get behind Sanders and Biden, their enthusiasm wanes when it comes to most other potential candidates.
“Democrats are showing an enthusiasm gap in likely 2020 candidates, with Sanders and Biden outpacing other potential nominees,” he told Politico.
“Our polling shows 74 [percent] and 73 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Sanders and Biden over Trump, respectively,” Sinclair added, but this “exceeds Warren [60 percent], Booker [49 percent], and Harris [47 percent].”
