A woman in Australia is lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping serious injury when she was driving down the highway and a large freeway sign broke loose, crashing to the ground.
It happened Tuesday on the Tullamarine freeway in Melbourne, when the large metal roadway sign came crashing down, for unknown reasons, right as the 53-year-old woman’s SUV was driving by it, according to SkyNews Australia.

In the video shared by 9News on social media, we can see the sign drop first right in front of the SUV and then fall over and slam into her vehicle. Luckily, the driver was barely injured in the whole ordeal. (RELATED: Watch: Great White Shark Surprises Australia Cops [VIDEO])
“She was driving a big SUV, I was driving a smaller car, it would’ve crushed my car,” Ali Murad, who was in the car behind the woman and captured the incident on his dashcam video shared.
At the end, we can see the vehicle roof completely smashed in and glass pieces all over the roadway. The woman, identified as Nella Lettieri, did sustain minor neck injuries and was taken to the hospital with arm injuries.
An investigation is underway into what caused the sign to collapse.
