The NFL had a great day on television Sunday for a pair of playoff games.
According to Austin Karp of SportsBusiness Journal, the Patriots’ dominating victory over the Chargers got a rating of 19.2, which means roughly 19 percent of households with a television tuned in at some point. The Saints’ win over the Eagles did even better, and got a rating of 23.8. (RELATED: Here Are The Best Moments You Might Have Missed From The NFL Divisional Playoff Games)
Fox leads @NFL divisional weekend ratings with 23.8 overnight rating for Saints-Eagles. 3 of 4 divisional windows see ratings gains. CBS’ Patriots-Chargers (19.2 rating), which was 35-7 blowout at halftime, lone window to see decline

The NFL has to be ecstatic with these numbers, and they’re likely only going to go up. As somebody pointed out to me last night, there are no bad options for the league going forward into the Super Bowl.
Every single team brings something big to the table. The Patriots have Brady, the Saints have Brees, the Rams have the young coach and insane offense and the Chiefs have Mahomes. There are stars all over the place.
It really is amazing how great the numbers have been for the NFL this season. There was a time a couple years ago when it looked like the league was in a free fall.
Those days are clearly in the past because the ratings in 2018 and into the playoffs have been outstanding.
You can hate Roger Goodell all you want, but there’s no question he got the sinking ship turned around.

I can’t wait to see what we get from the conference championship games. I have a feeling that they’re going to be huge.
